I like to wander the aisles of sewing and crafting tools. The "see a need, fill a need" ingenuity behind each one is so interesting. It's fun trying to figure out their purposes. Sometimes a tool can make a task so much more enjoyable and sometimes a tool is just a drain on the wallet and a clutter creator in our creative spaces. In this episode of "Favorite Things", I present three tools that aid me in drafting and altering patterns.
Dritz Quilt-n-Sew See Thru Ruler
Fairgate 24" Vary Form Curve
The see through ruler with 1/4" markings covering a 2" x 18" ruler comes in super handy for adding seam allowances or adding/removing length/width when altering a pattern. The vary form curve ruler allowed me to draw the curve of the top and bottom edges of my sewn coffee cozy pattern with ease.
LED Light Pad
Who knew such a simple electronic could make me so happy!?!? No more straining my eyes when I'm tracing patterns. It is very lightweight and easily portable. I just plug the USB power cord into my laptop or charging station and use the adjustable brightness to illuminate at a comfortable level.
Whether I'm designing my own creations or making alterations for custom fit clothing for my family of four, I grab these three tools time and time again. Happy drafting!
